Modern Slavery Statement
Man and a Van Brompton Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Man and a Van Brompton to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships, and to implementing effective controls and safeguards that help ensure slavery and human trafficking are not taking place anywhere in our business or in any of our supplier relationships.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Man and a Van Brompton maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, and human trafficking. This policy applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers who work with or on behalf of our business. We expect the same commitment from everyone in our supply chain. Any indication of modern slavery or exploitative practice is treated as a serious breach of our standards and may result in the immediate termination of business relationships and, where appropriate, the reporting of concerns to relevant authorities.
Our Business and Supply Chain
We operate as a transport and moving services provider, engaging drivers, logistics partners, and related service providers. Our supply chain includes vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, equipment suppliers such as packing materials, and a range of professional and support services. While our operations are relatively straightforward and primarily based within the United Kingdom, we recognise the risk that modern slavery can exist in any sector or country and therefore we take proactive steps to address it.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers and partners who share our values of respect, fairness, and lawful employment. As part of this commitment, we have established standards that require suppliers to comply with all applicable employment, labour, and human rights laws and to demonstrate that they do not use forced, bonded, or involuntary labour of any kind.
We assess new suppliers for indications of labour exploitation risk before entering into business relationships. This assessment may include requesting information about their employment practices, codes of conduct, and any existing modern slavery policies. We reserve the right to carry out audits or request independent assessments of suppliers where we consider the risk to be higher. These audits may involve reviewing documentation, speaking with management, and where practical, visiting operational sites to observe working conditions.
If a supplier is found to be non-compliant with our standards or unable to provide sufficient assurances that modern slavery is not present, we will work with them to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. Persistent failure or refusal to address identified issues may result in the termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Man and a Van Brompton encourages all employees, contractors, and third parties to report any concerns related to modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns may include suspected exploitation, unsafe working conditions, or breaches of our zero-tolerance policy. Individuals are encouraged to raise concerns directly with management or through any internal reporting mechanism we provide.
We are committed to ensuring that anyone who raises a concern in good faith is protected and will not suffer any form of retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result of making a report. All reports are treated seriously and, where possible, confidentially. We investigate concerns promptly and take appropriate action, including remedial steps and, where relevant, escalation to regulatory or law enforcement bodies.
Training, Awareness, and Responsibilities
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with senior management, who are accountable for ensuring that our policies are communicated, understood, and effectively implemented. We provide information and guidance to relevant staff to help them recognise potential signs of modern slavery, understand our reporting channels, and appreciate the importance of our zero-tolerance stance.
Managers with responsibility for procurement or supplier relationships receive additional guidance on risk indicators and on the steps to take if a concern arises during supplier assessment or ongoing engagement. We expect our suppliers to communicate similar expectations within their own operations and supply chains.
Monitoring, Annual Review, and Continuous Improvement
We recognise that combatting modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility and that our practices must be regularly reviewed and improved. Man and a Van Brompton is committed to reviewing this Modern Slavery Statement on an annual basis. As part of this review, we will consider changes in our business operations, developments in legislation and best practice, and any issues or incidents that may have arisen during the year.
The annual review will also assess the effectiveness of our supplier audits, reporting mechanisms, and staff awareness activities. Where opportunities for improvement are identified, we will update our policies, processes, and training to strengthen our approach. By doing so, we aim to maintain robust safeguards and to contribute actively to the wider effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking.
This Statement has been approved by the management of Man and a Van Brompton and will be updated annually to reflect our ongoing commitment to ethical and responsible business conduct.
